English language expectations
For learners to succeed on qualifications taught and assessed in English, an appropriate level of language skill is essential. Non-native English speakers who have not completed their final two years of schooling in English must demonstrate proficiency matching the standards below.
Common European Framework of Reference for Languages — upper-intermediate operational fluency.
Overall 5.5; Reading and Writing must both reach 5.5 minimum.
Pearson Test of English Academic score of 51 or above.
Approved centre assessment protocol. Under qualification regulatory guidelines, delivery centres are permitted to adopt their own English language test to judge whether learners meet this requirement. PCT Global Institute provides an approved in-browser diagnostic suite mapped directly to CEFR B2 and IELTS 5.5 standards.
Before enrolment, candidates may sit the institute's own English test. Where IELTS or an equivalent certificate is unavailable, or a candidate is confident of their proficiency, the diagnostic may be taken directly with PCT Global Institute. For clarification, contact the course advisor.

Policy FAQs
Why are English language entry requirements necessary?
Non-native English speakers must hold a minimum level of competency, as UK universities and Higher Education Institutions commonly require a minimum English standard as part of degree-programme entry requirements.
Can the requirement be met with other tests — City & Guilds, Cambridge, ESOL?
Yes. It is for the centre to satisfy itself that the learner's score is equivalent to IELTS 5.5 / PTE 51 / CEFR B2.
Are WAEC learners exempt?
West African Examination Council learners who studied their final two years of school in English are exempt from the requirement.
